Ars Technica is reporting that Office Depot / Office Max has been fined $35 Million for faking malware and virus scans to convince customers to buy “repair” services. The scans would indicate there were problems even when there were none, allowing their in-house repair service to charge up to $300 to repair problems that did not exist.
